Controlled breeding studies of Silver Spangled Hamburg bantams support a working formula involving birchen (E^R), sex-linked Silver (S), Dark Brown (Db), Melanotic (Ml) and Pattern (Pg). The R allele produces the rose comb; the formula describes studied lines rather than a DNA test of every bird.
